So you want to elope?

Here's a list of reasons why that's a great idea!

  • A wedding day fully centered on you and your relationship instead of on guests and a timeline. No drama, no rushing (unless you're trying to catch a sunrise or sunset!), just you and your significant other.
  • It is much easier to plan than an entire wedding day. You won't have to worry about working around a venue's restrictions, catering choices, a million floral arrangements, or what your bridal party is wearing or doing.
  • No pressure or expectations from others on how your day should go. You get to slow down and genuinely enjoy the process of marrying your partner in an intimate and meaningful way.
  • Freedom to create a wedding day that YOU envisioned and not just what your loved ones want. You can still have a big reception after you elope!
  • You'll be able to pose for photos without being pressured by a timeline. Having a more relaxed timeline creates a better environment for you to be yourself and makes it easier for me to capture photos of you at your best!
  • Eloping can save a lot of money. By choosing to elope, you could cut the price you would normally pay for a wedding down significantly.

What is a modern elopement?

An elopement is a way to get married that doesn't have to involve walking down an aisle in front of a few hundred guests. If you're like me and don't like having all eyes on you, eloping could be the way to go! Eloping is a way to create a custom wedding ceremony that means the most to you and your partner. Imagine; just the two of you at the top of a mountain, saying your wedding vows to one another while the sun rises in the background. You can elope with just you and your significant other or you can elope with a few of the most important people in your life. There is no right or wrong way to do it! Many people think elopements are a super last minute, rushed, and spontaneous event. However, eloping can be such a special, thoughtful, and intimate experience that can be planned out just as intricately as a normal wedding day. Just think: less people, less drama, less stress. More love, more adventure, and more intimacy.

Where can I elope?

When you think of elopements, you may think; Yosemite, The Rocky Mountains, The Dolomites, Cancun, Bali, etc. Those are all amazing and beautiful destinations, but there are so many other options available as well! There are SO many beautiful places in Michigan or in the midwest that you may have not thought or heard of. You don't have to be an avid hiker or adventure seeker to elope. There are lots of options for places that don't require a lot of physical exertion to get to the site. There are also options for small venues that can be booked/rented for small increments of time as opposed to a full wedding day. You don't even have to go further than your driveway - lots of couples choose to elope in their backyards. Or maybe you ARE up for an adventure elopement! In that case, maybe a long hike in the mountains or a long plane ride is perfect for you and your partner. You can design your elopement any way you want! Let's create something beautiful and unique to your relationship that you can tell stories about for many years to come!
